Season

BIOBUZZ, before the game.

2026-2027 is FIRST CANOPY, and the FIRST Tech Challenge game inside it is BIOBUZZ presented by RTX. Nature, biodiversity and the systems that keep a planet thriving.

Game rules not published yet

The manual is at V0. Sections on the game itself are placeholders until kickoff, so nobody — including this site — knows what BIOBUZZ is yet. Anything you read claiming otherwise is guessing. 73 sections are indexed today.

What is already settled

The useful thing about a V0 manual is that a lot of it is not provisional. The robot construction rules, the motor and actuator limits, the control system, inspection, advancement and every judged award are published in full. They constrain your design and your season plan right now, whatever the game turns out to be — which is why the questions below are worth asking in August rather than in September.

  1. What robot construction rules are already published for the 2026-2027 season?

Section 12 is published while the game is not. These constrain your design today.

  2. What does R102 require for the starting configuration?

The 18in cube is fixed regardless of what the game turns out to be.

  3. What motors and actuators are legal this season?

Motor and servo limits decide your mechanism count before you know what to build.

  4. How does advancement and ranking work this season?

Advancement points are published, and they shape whether you optimise for awards or play.

  5. What is judged for the Control Award and the Innovate Award?

Both are published now, and both reward work you should be starting before kickoff.

  6. What has FIRST said is changing about competition integrity this season?

Section 1.4.1 flags changes to game and field design. It is the closest thing to a hint.

  7. What should an FTC team build or practise before the game is revealed?

Drivetrain, odometry and autonomous transfer between seasons. This is where to spend August.

Each question runs through the normal ask flow, so every claim comes back with the manual section behind it. This page deliberately contains no analysis of its own: an unsourced opinion about an unreleased game is exactly the thing this site exists not to produce.
